Soul Food: ‘Tis the Season

‘Tis the season for peace and joy,

The season of giving more than one toy.

‘Tis the season to spread holiday cheer,

The season for laughter and drinking beer.

‘Tis the season for stress and worry,

Because let’s be honest, there is so much to get done – it’s time to hurry!

Dear Lord,

As much as I love the season of Christmas, I’d be lying if I didn’t say it can be a stressful time of year.

I could list out all my worries and to-do’s – but you already what needs to be done and where I’m to focus my time and attention.

Today I ask when my mind starts running into overdrive with the “to-dos and to-don’ts” remind me to:

Breathe and slow down.

Talk to you, asking for wisdom and strength for what needs to be done.

Walk with you and trust that you got this.

When the stress from the outside world is screaming for attention, help me remember the real reason for the season.

In doing so, I’ll find comfort and peace, knowing you’ve given me what’s needed to do the work you’ve called of me.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6
